Start a Chapter

If you have signed up for our newsletter and would like to become more involved in our work, starting a chapter may be right for you! Now, teens of color can start a local branch of The Collective in their school or city; these chapters provide you and your community with the opportunity to raise awareness of issues related to racial equity and justice.
Chapters must meet at least monthly, and we will provide materials for each monthly meeting. It is up to chapter leads to use that material as you see fit - we just ask that your work furthers our goals of supporting teen artists of color and promoting racial diversity in the arts.
Potential chapter activities may include...
- Hosting monthly or bimonthly discussions about racial equity in the arts
- Leading an assembly at your school to discuss tokenization, cultural appropriation, and/or fetishization in mainstream media
- Filming Refocus videos in your local community
- Connecting with local artists and mentors of color
- Hosting events, galleries, and performances that highlight the work of teen artists of color or promote interaction between individuals of different races
- Creating a zine
- And more!
Fill out this brief form if you're interested in starting a chapter, and we'll contact you to schedule a meeting and talk further.
